No problem at all.

I’d actually setup that network quite a while ago to play around with Ning. I like it, but have a few issues with it in regards to GeekSouth.

1. You have to pay $4.95 a month to use it to host your own domain.

2. You have to pay yet more ($19.95) to get rid of the Google Ads that Ning puts on your site.

3. So far I haven’t found a way to import all of the content that we already have here. Maybe that shouldn’t be big deal, but I really like having the history. That being said, I haven’t dug into it really deep yet…. there may be a way to do this.

So, we are going to be almost $25 a month to host the site. Unless we don’t care about ads which leaves us at around $5.

But I’m up to discuss it more. I’d like to setup a separate meeting sometime at the end of summer for us all to gather around and really hammer out what we want to do.

Hey, I’m willing to pitch in and help you guys pay the fee.
I too share some concerns based on the website, but hey, we gotta support new ways of doing things and this sounds like a great start.
If the price of gas and energy in general keeps rising, who knows, SIGGRAPH and NAB may end up like this someday soon!
I don’t know any of the speakers, there sure seem to be a lot!
It would almost work better if they all submitted their presentations in advance and then you could pick and choose what/when to watch.
Being its a bunch of web developers, its probably in a continuous state of flux up until (and maybe even during) the event.
Too bad we can’t do like our clients do us and only pay after its all done and we’re happy!

The Bliss Agency will be glad to sponsor the event and get the ticket. I still don’t have all the details as the website appears to be mid-construction. I just hope they truly have the platform to support super-high-demand video. I realize they have some major podcasters and so forth there, but I was a little wary with the statement “custom conference application.”

I have to say I like the idea of the conference, and I am tempted to be willing to attend it, but I want to see more of the actual sessions they plan on speaking on, unless someone has some first hand experince of this conference.

This is awesome! I’d be game for pitching in some $$ for part of the group ticket.

I’d have to check but I might be able to get the conference room/projector here at the office lined up if we wanted to all gather in one spot. If not I’m sure we could find somewhere to congregate.

Wonder if we could get one or two hip local companies to sponsor the fee?
